Founded in 1992 in a small shed in the centre of Toowoomba, Quality Desserts produced a range of chilled desserts for the takeaway market. Supply chain issues and a number of customer buyouts saw this market quickly diminish, so a decision was made to start baking Christmas Puddings.
This first year was very lean, with a handful of puddings produced for the fledgling Eagle Boys pizza chain. From there, a number of hamper clients discovered our product, and supply of product into this market has now grown to be one of the businesses core markets with many products featured in major hampers throughout Australia and overseas. The hamper business had a flow on effect, as this opened doors into other markets with supermarket chains now becoming the mainstay of the business over the last 20 years.
Many Quality Desserts products can be found on the shelves of supermarkets and small retailers across the country, as well as a growing range of products for the food service market servicing schools, hospitals, airlines and the like.
In 2001, Quality Desserts acheived their first HACCP certification, and over the subsequent years have now been accredited to both the Woolworths Quality Assurance standard (WQA), and in 2006 to the British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification.
These accreditations are a must for the growth and future development of the company and now form part of our strategic goals towards Worlds Best Practice.
Export markets are slowly being developed, with our Christmas products being supplied in many countries and our delicious cake range now being found overseas throughout the year in New Zealand and Singapore.
