Community Involvement

Australia Day Celebrations in Toowoomba 2009.
Community Involvement

Without the support of the local community, most businesses would find it hard to survive.

At Quality Desserts we are no different, as the vast majority of our staff and the support organisations for our business are local.

To that end we are very active in our local region (and across the country) providing a large number of charities, sporting groups and welfare agencies with products for raffles, fundraisers and other events. We also provide a limited number of sponsorships to local sporting groups and clubs.

We are also heavily involved in a number of Christmas appeals, and in particular Toowoomba's Christmas Wonderland of Lights which we have supported for the last 12 years. This event raises much needed funds for the Lions Club who in turn support Lifeline, and other local charities and sporting groups.

Some of our key staff are also actively involved in their own charity work, including memberships with Apex, Rotary and other community groups. Our CEO also regularly takes on larger fundraising activities to suport other well known charities, personally raising over $15,000 for various charities including Movember Foundation as well as Radio 4GR's Hang ya Boss Out to Dry promo (raising funds for the Toowoomba Hospice) which saw him placed in a cherry picker 10m in the air until he could raise at least $750.

But by far our biggest single event to date has been setting a new Guinness World Record for the Worlds Largest Lamington which took place on 11 June 2011. Weighing a massive 2,361Kg, and taking 4 hours to build, we not only smashed the record set by Ipswich (a lamington weighing a paltry 1,360Kg), but we also raised money for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation. A huge thanks to the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce for their help on the day, along with the Future Leaders, Toowoomba Apex Club and our staff.

Whilst we would love to help everyone, that is just not financially possible, but we will endeavour to do what we can, when we can.
